At Croxton Kerrial Church of England Primary school children learn phonics throughout the Early Years and Key Stage 1. We have begun to follow the Sounds Write programme which aims to develop children's speaking and listening skills and to prepare them for learning to read by developing their phonic knowledge and skills. It is a systematic programme which is taught daily in short sessions so that children build up and practise the skills they need to use in reading and writing.
Saying the phoneme sounds correctly is very important. Here is a video which shows how to pronounce the phoneme sounds we learn.
